Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida is a relatively undeveloped island southeast of mainland Bali. You won’t find the snazzy beach clubs, organic cafes, or trendy restaurants here, but Nusa Penida is still worthy of a visit. It houses some of the most photogenic sights in Bali. Once you are on the island, it’s time to explore! Nusa Penida is not a big island, but because of the way the roads are built and the condition of the road, it will still take some time to get from one spot to another. And here is a detailed list of what to do and things to see in Nusa Penida:

  1. Kelingking Beach

Kelingking Beach is relatively new, only “discovered” in 2003 by a few tourist divers who reached the beach by boat. Nowadays, Kelingking Beach is probably the most Instagrammed spot in Nusa Penida.

  1. Angel’s Billabong & Broken Beach

Angel’s Billabong is a beautiful natural rock pool that opens straight to the ocean. Broken Beach is famous as the viewpoint for an arched tunnel in the cliffs, allowing the ocean to flow into a pool, which is Angel’s Billabong.

  1. Snorkeling at Crystal Bay or Gamat Bay

What makes Crystal Bay so special is that the corals are very healthy and they are just meters away from the beach. You’ll see various fish – unicorn fish, trumpet fish, rainbow fish, and a triggerfish. There were also schools of small fishes among the colorfull corals. It’s honestly as good as diving without the hassle of carrying heavy equipment!

  1. Atuh Beach (Diamond Beach)

Diamond Beach is a stunning hidden beach located at the bottom of a sheer cliff on the eastern tip of the island of Nusa Penida. With a long stretch of white sand, palm trees, rock pools and glistening turquoise sea, Diamond Beach is the epitome of paradise, and I feel privileged to have been one of the first people to enjoy its untouched beauty.

  1. Tembeling Beach & Forest

Tembeling Beach is a little hideaway bay at the end of a crazy motorbike ride down through the forest. Along the way you will pass by the Tembeling natural pools. If you are looking for something a little off the beaten path and away from the tourist hot spots you may enjoy the adventure of Tembeling Beach, natural pools and forest.

  1. Nusa Penida Tree House (Rumah Pohon)

A visit to Nusa Penida is not complete without a stop at the famous Rumah Pohon Tree House. Here you will be able to enjoy some fantastic views of the Nusa Penida coastline with its beaches, massive cliffs and variety of rock formations out in the water.

  1. Goa Giri Putri Temple

Pura Goa Giri Putri temple (also known as Karangsari Cave) is another neat hidden temple in Nusa Penida, Bali, but this one is unique because it’s inside of a huge natural cave. Hindu ceremonies are still performed here, but it’s also open to tourists. Exploring this cave is an interesting experience, for sure.
